Course Content

This course provides students a critical approach to the understanding of the culture and history of the Middle East and North Africa through cinema films and cultural readings. Contemporary Middle Eastern cinema reflects the social, political and cultural issues in the area as well as showing the filmic language of its filmmakers. Students will also explore the relationships between cinema and other forms of popular culture including music, literature, and visual arts.
